A Record of Achievement

When Hudson Link began its undergraduate degree program at Sing Sing in conjunction with Nyack College and then Mercy College, it began as a finishing program that would offer well-adjusted and ambitious incarcerated individuals, with college credits a Bachelors degree in Behavioral Science.

That was the summer of 2001.  Since then, great strides have been made toward that goal.  To date, fifty-nine (59) students have earned their undergraduate degrees—sixteen in 2002, twenty in 2004, and 23 in 2005.  We anticipate 20 more men will receive diplomas in June 2006.

Taharqa Ramses

Graduating in the Class of 2005 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Behavioral Science, Taharqa Ramses was the valedictorian of his class. Currently, he is a volunteer tutor for Hudson Link while awaiting admittance to the New York Theological Seminary Master’s program at Sing Sing.

Danny Matos

Danny was a member of the graduating Class of 2004. In the fall of that year, he was accepted into the NYTS Master’s program. Danny served as a Hudson Link clerk providing support in the Hudson Link office in Sing Sing. He hopes to return to the same position upon graduating with his master’s degree.

Nigel Lawrence

As valedictorian of the Class of 2004, Nigel’s speech was featured in the Fall 2004 edition of The Link, Hudson Link’s newsletter and was also presented in its entirety on RNN’s special on the 2004 Commencement. Nigel is a gifted artist: it was his design that was chosen as the logo for Hudson Link at its inception! Currently, he is enrolled in the NYTS Master’s program and will graduate in June. He continues to volunteer as an administrative clerk and tutor for Hudson Link.

Johnny Hincapie

Johnny graduated in 2005 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Behavioral Science. He continues to put his education to work at Sing Sing but looks forward to being reunited with his family in the near future.
